We are hiring!!

The Darlington and Hartsville YMCA are hiring for a front desk staff position. We are looking for individuals who can promote a positive, professional and welcoming atmosphere by providing excellent customer service and exemplifying our YMCA values.

Duties include greeting and assisting members with membership needs and checking on and assisting members in the fitness center. Must be able to work flexible schedule including some weekends and some early morning shifts.

We are currently looking for a part time custodian for the Darlington branch. The schedule would be some weekdays 2pm-7pm. Duties include day to day cleaning duties to maintain a safe and clean environment. Must be able to work independently. Apply at Darlington or Hartsville branches.

Summer Specialty Camps 2020

Fishing Camp!

Fishing Camp will run the week of July 13-17th from 8am to noon in Hartsville for children 7-14. In this camp we will teach our children the importance of water safety, in addition to: baiting a hook, removing the fish from the hook, and casting techniques. These kids will visit several different ponds throughout the week to test their skills, have an educational experience at the fish hatchery in Cheraw, and enjoy a sweet treat at McLeod Farms to end the week.

Wildlife Week!

Join the Y and Black Creek Wildlife as we will be implementing H20 Olympics, nature crafts, bird of prey education, mammal education , and reptile education from July 27th – July 31st! Each child will get the opportunity to dissect an owl pellet! We are excited for all of our campers to experience Mammal Monday, Tortoise Tuesday, Wildlife Wednesday, and Tarantula Thursday!

We’d like to invite parents to join us on Friday for an overall presentation day and to meet our animal ambassadors!

Registration deadline is July 20th.

We are taking every step of precaution to prepare and keep our children, members, and staff safe during this time of uncertainty.

Phase 2 of Reopening

Members who are considered to be part of a vulnerable population (i.e. senior population age 62 and older and/or those with underlying health issues) should take extra awareness and are encouraged to get clearance from a health professional before entering the facility. Members who are considered to be part of a vulnerable population will be allowed into our YMCA facilities and have access to a controlled area to exercise.

All facilities will implement additional sanitation procedures, wellness checks, and have staff dedicated to cleaning equipment between users. Additional facility specific changes to normal operations may include:

-Showers will be available on Tuesday, May 26th. Members are still encouraged to shower at home if at all possible.
-Coffee area will be available starting Tuesday, May 26th.
-Towel service is still NOT available at this time.
-Some group fitness classes will begin May 26th.
-Basketball gyms are still closed for pickup basketball.
-Hartsville pool will be open on June 1st for lap swimming only. Reservations can be made through Daxko like a regular program. Each hour will be listed and has four available spots (4 available lanes). You can call in to reserve a lane, sign up online, or walk-in.
-Chesterfield and Darlington pools are closed at this time.
-Sauna/Steam rooms are still closed.
-Personal Training can start on June 1st.
-Guests will be allowed starting June 1st.
-Racquetball courts are still closed.
-Childwatch will be available starting June 8th.
-Summer Camp will start on June 8th. Registration is now open!
-Youth Sports are suspended until Fall of 2020.
